China: 77 Avian Flu Patients Dead in Liaoning Province...Victim's Name Published on Internet
[The Horse's Mouth] The name of 14 dead victims were published in a post at an Chinese domestic Internet site called 'Tienya Forum.' It said that most of the dead were farm workers from Sichuan, Hunan, Anhui Province, who were working at the area of Liaoning Province where Avian Flu is raging. The poster who published the list said that he did so in order to inform the victim's family of what happened.

Expert Claim Bird Flu has Killed 300 in China
[Consanesco - Health blog] Masato Tashiro, head of virology at Tokyos National Institute of Infectious Disease - a WHO-collaborating centre for bird flu, says he was given the information in confidence by Chinese colleagues who have been threatened with arrest if they disclosed the extent of the problem.

Another Chinese cover-up?
[The Horse's Mouth] Currently, Chinese Cabinet and Supreme Military Command issued an instruction, "Anyone suspected to be infected by Avian Flu, or really infected ones should be all confined to designated medical facilities and its report be made to higher government immediately. It is strictly prohibited to reveal information on (Avian Flu) infection without approval of the Cabinet.

Two More Bird Flu Outbreaks

Tamiflu Catch-22

Jeffries] In background documents posted Thursday to the FDA’s Web site the FDA said most of the adverse events linked to Tamiflu, including all of the deaths, occurred in Japan. The FDA said all of the children had been diagnosed with influenza, started therapy with Tamiflu “and died suddenly, several of them in their sleep.”

Bad News about Tamiflu

Sixteen things I want to do before I die
[Bent Corner] I knew that it was the bird flu not because my doctor told me it was (he never did), but because I was feeling so poorly that I could not even get on the computer for more then 15 minutes without having to go lay back down on the sofa because of exhaustion. And that Wolf Blitzer fellow over at CNN has been amping up the threat of bird flu and got me pretty freaked out about it.

[Cdc.gov] Healthcare facilities and laboratories have been advised to treat as potentially infectious, in accordance with state medical waste regulations, all materials retained or derived from the influenza A (H2N2) proficiency testing panels created by Meridian Bioscience and sent out by the College of American Pathologists, the American Association of Bioanalysts, the American College of Physicians, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. These materials can be safely inactivated with either physical or chemical treatment methods, including sterilization using moist heat or dry heat, incineration, or treatment using disinfectant chemicals.

WHO | International response to the distribution of a H2N2 ...
[Who.int] On 8 April, after a request by the US government, CAP asked all laboratories which participated in the proficiency testing to immediately destroy samples containing the H2N2 virus. On 12 April, a second correspondence from CAP to these laboratories further requested that destruction of the H2N2 virus be confirmed and that any case of respiratory disease among laboratory workers be investigated and notified to national authorities.

CDC - Influenza (Flu) | Influenza A (H2N2) Situation
[Cdc.gov] CDC, HHS, and the World Health Organization are working with the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and other providers of proficiency testing panels to ensure that influenza A/H2N2 samples sent to U.S. laboratories and laboratories in 17 other countries are destroyed immediately. The A/H2N2 samples sent out are similar to the A/H2N2 viruses that circulated in humans in 1957 at the beginning of the Asian influenza pandemic.

[Alarming News] Yes, I realize that if he does nothing, and people start dropping like flies because of this mysterious bird flu, the outcry at Bush for doing nothing will be deafening. But sometimes you have to suck it up and explain to people that we can't be spending millions, hell billions, of dollars on a virus that hasn't even struck within our borders yet.
