Vietnam Takes Steps To Curb Bird Flu
[Avian Flu Diary] In his instruction issued on February 27, Phat, who is also the Head of the National Steering Board for Bird Flu Control, said so far this year bird flu outbreaks have been discovered in 14 districts of 10 provinces, leading to the cull of almost 23,000 birds.

[thepoultrysite - Industry News] According to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), there were more than 300 reported outbreaks of H5N1 in nine European countries during 2007. These included outbreaks in commercial poultry (broilers, ducks and geese), outbreaks in backyard poultry (village poultry), and more than 250 outbreaks in wild birds (swans, wild ducks and wild geese).

Bird flu strikes poultry in Tibet, man dies in Viet Nam
[Medical News] Viet Nam's Ministry of Health also confirmed last week, that a 40 year old man from Gia Loc district, Hai Duong province, died of H5N1 bird flu on 13th February after being taken into hospital 5 days earlier.

Teenager becomes Indonesia`s 104th bird flu fatality

Pakistan Clears Three Workers
[Avian Flu Diary] The National Reference Laboratory on poultry diseases, Islamabad, on Feb 1 informed the director poultry of the Sindh government that the Newcastle disease virus and bird flu virus of H5N1 strain had been found in the samples of birds in the farm, following which the authorities concerned culled hundreds of the remaining birds and sealed the farm for any further activity for some months, while the workers who handled the birds before and after the culling were sent to the CHKs isolation ward on the same day.

No sample for Avian flu from West Bengal
[news.indiainfo.com] The HSADL, joint director S C Dubey, said, "Besides, West Bengal, we received samples from other states but not a single sample have been found positive for the Avian Influenza on rapid test basis," it said, adding even not a single sample from West Bengal tested positive after January 26.
