[Reachm.com] The American Street » Any Unindexed Post: That’s the one thing all the Minutemen are in perfect agreement upon, as they gang up to stop the dangerous head of the terror organization, al-Redcoat.
[Timworstall.typepad.com] Tim Worstall: Avian Influenza: I would gladly listen to someone who tells me Im wrong but I take that to mean, reading between the lines, a Nobel Laureate in Medicine, stating that it is not whether but when it will happen, that a re-run of the Spanish flu (whether this current Avian version or another) is virtually certain at some point in the future. Ouch.
[Edstrong.blog-city.com] Bird Flu Pandemic: Not If, But When (edstrong.blog-city.com): If this comes to pass, a hostile power can actually paralyze a rival country by spreading some potent virus there, then sit back and let the all powerful WHO do the rest - a perfect crime. China has better watch out, with all these sars and flu craps going the rounds within its border, the above scenerio is not implausible if it get hit by a BIG ONE .
[Node707.com] Just a Bump in the Beltway: Bird Flu and Not Trusting The USG: As of Friday night, according to the World Health Organization in Geneva, the avian strain has killed 57 of the 112 people it has been known to infect in four countries. They are Cambodia (4 cases), Indonesia (one case), Thailand (17 cases) and Vietnam (90 cases).
[Aidsblog.blogspot.com] AIDS Combat Zone: March 2005: That trend has been repeated recently, as the United States will be requiring HIV/AIDS organizations to make written pledges opposing prostitution in order to receive federal funding, regardless of whether their work deals with commercial sex workers. To me this is a dangerous and ignorant requirement, considering that prostitution is deeply entrenched into the cultures of many societies affected by HIV, and opposing it outright is likely to either make it more difficult for sex workers and their clients to access risk reduction tools, and it risks stigmatising prostitution and pushing it even farther underground than it already is in many cases (hat tip to Jean and John for beating me to the punch on this one).
