[FP Passport | blogging on global news, politics, economics and ideas] Andrew Burns, lead economist for the World Bank Prospects Group, paused at one point during his presentation, turned away from the podium, and let out a startlingly flu-like sneeze. A nervous moment passed, there was an uncertain chuckle here and there, and then laughter broke out around the room.

Having read much about the man, I do not think that he ever forgot the common man within himself—in fact, Senator McCarthy in his rebuttal to Murrow accused him of having been a member of the International Workers of the World, or Wobblies, an attempt to smear Murrow with the communist brush, to which Murrow replied that the men who worked with him in the lumber camps could vouch he had never supported the Wobblies.

[Littlegreenfootballs.com] lgf: Tuesday Open Thread: If you go back to the blog site that Gordon linked to for proof of the LGF laughingstock, I noted at the time that the gentleman who called LGF a laughingstock also speculated that most LGFer's are probably fat lazy people with nothing to do but post on LGF. What I found interesting about his comment is that he probably should have either refrained from making such comments about weight or at least photoshopped out his extra chins that were so promenently displayed in his picture.
